The only real difference between the two is which mobs spawn by default, and, the fact that the time in the overworld reverts to normal Minecraft time - this is what makes the shaders work perfectly in the overworld and causes trouble for them in Middle Earth. So if the region file is r. in Middle Earth the corresponding region file in the overworld is also r. The region files match 1:1 in both dimensions.
